Volunteers Needed for Sunday, June 23rd
Every year, Ride Don't Hide is a success thanks to our volunteers.
It's a massive event, and we rely on our volunteers to keep the day going smoothly. There are a range of positions available, and we welcome everyone to sign up and be a part of our community.
There will be a mandatory volunteer orientation at the beginning of June - the exact time is still to be announced but will be in the evening. If you have questions about volunteering for RDH, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at ridedonthide@cmhapeel.ca
Students are invited to sign up and will receive Volunteer Hours for their time.
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities
Parking Control - 6 positions remaining
The start time is 6:15 am; the finish time is 10:15 am. This volunteer position will be directing vehicles to park uniformly to maximize space.
Set-Up - 10 positions remaining
The start time is 6:00 am; the finish time is 9:30 am. This volunteer position will entail helping to set up tents, tables, chairs, bike racks, signs, and preparing and loading the water station vehicles.
Rider Check-In - 6 positions remaining
The start time is 6:30 am; the finish time is 10:30 am. This volunteer will be checking in registrants and providing them with an identification bracelet, swag bag, and t-shirt.
Food and Beverage: Breakfast - 3 positions remaining
The start time is 6:30 am; the finish time is 10:30 am. This volunteer will be setting up food and beverages and serving to identified riders.
Food and Beverage: Lunch - 3 positions remaining
The start time is 10:30 am; the finish time is 1:30 pm. This volunteer will be aiding the food truck vendor, serving lunch to all riders and volunteers.
Follow Cars for Road Rides - 3 positions remaining
Start times vary between 7am and 9am; the finish time is 1pm. This volunteer position requires a licensed and insured driver. This volunteer will follow the rider route and pick up all road signs. They will be responsible for aiding riders who break down by contacting mechanical support or first-aid if required. Drivers will be compensated for mileage if requested.
Route Volunteers - 22 positions remaining
Start times vary between 7am and 9am; the finish time is 1pm. This position will be to ensure the safety of our riders at all crossings along the ride. You will aid riders to cross safely at all intersections along the route. Each intersection will have two volunteers.
Water Stations - 10 positions remaining
Location and times for this position are to be determined. A vehicle is required by two of the volunteers; all water station volunteers will pick-up supplies at the event site before heading to the water station locations. Water stations will be set-up throughout the ride routes, and volunteers will be responsible for providing riders with water and snacks. Drivers will be compensated for mileage if requested.
Finish Line Support and Take-Down - 10 positions remaining
The start time is 10:30 am; the finish time is 1:30 pm. This volunteer position will cheer and congratulate riders as they cross the finish line. Volunteers will also aid riders in cooling down and providing them with water. When all riders have returned, this position will then help in the take-down of tents, tables, chairs, bike racks, signs, and help with garbage clean-up.
Sweep Rider Volunteers - 8 positions remaining
Start times vary between 7am and 9am; the finish time is 1pm. Volunteer cyclists will ride along the route with registered riders to ensure that the riders are safe and headed in the right direction. You will provide support along the routes and should have a basic knowledge of cycling and be first-aid certified.
