You can find The Complete Ride Don't Hide Guide to Raising $330 here.
or check out our short, fast, and fun tips from the guide below

1. GET SET UP

That may mean ensuring your Ride Don't Hide Page is personalized or setting goals for your fundraising and physical activity.

2. SHARE YOUR STORY

If you don't already know, figure out why you are riding. Are you riding because of your personal experience, the experience you've seen through friends and family, or are you just passionate about expanding the services available to people struggling with their mental health? Once you know, share your story with potential donors so that they are inspired to support your passion.

3. DECIDE WHO YOU WILL REACH OUT TO

Parents of your children’s classmates or teammates, former classmates, teammates, roommates & neighbours, former teachers & co-workers, people from your office, Professional associations, teams, the gym, larger professional network, members of clubs, neighbourhood or other community organizations are all potential supporters of you and your fundraising efforts.

4. THINK ABOUT HOW YOU WILL FUNDRAISE

You can call people and give them your best elevator pitch as to why you're passionate about this cause and how they can support you. You can send emails yourself or use the tools available to you when you're logged in under you Fundraising Dashboard. You can also ask people in person. It takes a little more time and effort but that in person connection can create value for the people you talk to and yourself even without a donation.

5. START TODAY

There's no time like the present! The sooner you start the sooner you can reach your goal!

6. THANK YOUR DONORS

If someone is supporting you be sure to thank them after so they know that their support is appreciated on an individual level.

ABOUT US

OUR VISION IS MENTALLY HEALTHY PEOPLE IN A HEALTHY SOCIETY!

Our History

CMHA Kamloops Branch started operating as a non-profit in 1982 under the name Kamloops Cariboo Society. In 1992 we were officially incorporated into the Canadian Mental Health Association. As the only national organization that ensures support to a full scope of mental health, mental illness, problematic substance use, and addiction concerns, we are proud to be 1 of 330 branches across the country!

We know that mental health begins where you live, learn, work and play which is why we provide a wide range of innovative services and supports.

CMHA Kamloops creates awareness, provides education, and supports individuals and families living with mental health or substance use concerns. Our programs are community-based, they include supportive and independent living, homelessness services, and peer support. By working closely with other community agencies, we are working to bridge gaps in mental health care and facilitate access to critical services and resources.

What We Offer

The Clubhouse (Kamloops & Merritt)

Our Clubhouse provides a wide range of services and supports in the four domains of psychosocial rehabilitation: vocation, personal education, health and wellness, and leisure and recreation. This programming focuses on the opportunity for skill development, peer support and volunteer experiences for people 18 and older who have been diagnosed with a mental health and/or substance use disorder.

Shelter Programs

CMHA Kamloops operates several permanent and temporary low-barrier shelters which provide security and safety to those experiencing homelessness. Shelters offer a wide array of services such as meals, connection to community supports, guidance in building life-skills, and case management support to meet personal goals.

Employment Programs

The Madison Reed Peer Program started at Rosethorn House as a way for residents to give back to and do their part within the community. After showing huge success, this program has been extended across our sites giving others the opportunity to practice accountability and build references for future employment. As members go into community to clean they’re able to positively engage others about the benefits of shelter, housing, case management or other resources available within facilities.

Community Education

Mental Health First Aid, supported by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, teaches participants how to provide help to people who are showing signs of mental health disorders or experiencing a mental health crisis. This training is available in-person as a 12-hour course carried out over 2 days or virtually as 9-hour course.

Bounce Back

Bounce Back is a self-motivated, free skill-building program designed to help adults and youth 15 years and older manage low mood, mild-to-moderate depression, anxiety, stress or worry. This program can be delivered online or over the phone with a coach, both giving the individual access to tools that will support a path to mental wellness. Bounce Back is offered and delivered provincially.

Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT)

The CMHA Response Team is a volunteer group of employees from within the agency who are available to respond from a support position in the event of a crisis or traumatic incident. The team, made up of a strong indigenous base, including individuals from many levels and programs within the organizations, was developed to help ensure that staff and community (referrals only) receive support quickly and effectively following a critical incident. At CMHA, we will respond to each person individually in a non-judgmental, supportive, safe environment while respecting the individual and his or her right to confidentiality.

Supportive Housing

Rosethorn houses and supports community members experiencing homelessness, as well as personal concerns such as cognitive impairments, substance use and/or mental health. With 24/7 on-site support, tenants receive assistance to maintain daily living, personal and environmental hygiene. This program ensures access to medical and mental health support/treatment through its partnerships with the local health authority.

Residential Tenancy

27 self-contained units are available for rent for individuals 55+ years of age or those living with disabilities. The units, which are spread between Kamloops and Logan Lake, require no direct programming, but offer support as needed.
