PlayCity

CMHA Calgary is excited to announce PlayCity as our Community Connections Sponsor for Energize Don’t Hide! PlayCity is a free app that connect people from all backgrounds by removing barriers, creating real, diverse and healthy relationships based on shared interests of play, such as golf, tennis and hiking. Finding connections and building healthy relationships is incredibly important for our mental health. Why not build new connections while playing your favorite sport or activity? Energize Don’t Hide is challenging Calgarians to be active for 20 minutes a day, in whichever way fits best for you, until September 21 to energize your physical and mental health. Start energizing your physical and mental health with Energize Don’t Hide and PlayCity!

As our cities slowly open back up from the pandemic lock-down, playing together is becoming a possibility again. Play it safe by checking in with one another to ensure no one has or had any symptoms, haven’t been in contact with anyone who has been sick, and avoid physical contact (high-fives can wait!).​​

Fitness Instructors and Energizers

CMHA Calgary is proud to partner with local fitness instructors to help you get energized and stay energized! When you register for Energize Don’t Hide 2020 Challenge, you will gain access to FREE and discounted virtual classes between June 21 and September 21, 2020. If you are searching for more ways to stay active at home, we encourage you to connect with one of our partnered fitness instructors to purchase one of their class or monthly passes. Melissa Moore

I am a certified personal trainer, Precision Nutrition and Spartan SGX Coach.  I have a passion for obstacle course racing, lifting heavy things and donuts and am the proud momma to 3 amazing girls. 

Adult Small Group Training 
60-minute workout - Focus on full body exercises and include a mixtures of cardio, strength training and core exercises. Program design varies from class to class to keep things interesting.
Equipment: A light set of dumbbells or small household objects (soup cans, large rocks, a backpack filled with books etc.) and a yoga mat or towel.
Difficulty level: Class is suitable for all levels but due to the nature of the class modifications cannot be given for injuries.

FREE classes: July 7, August 4 & September 8
Ongoing classes: Purchase unlimited monthly pass for $69 or 10 sessions for $80.

Kids Fitness Class
These classes are focused on introducing kids to basic exercises while moving their bodies and having fun.  Classes are a variety of circuits, Tabata's and fun games.
Difficulty level: Suitable for all levels
Age range: Age 5 to 14

Justin Sinclair 

I have been working in the fitness industry for over 12 years as a personal trainer, fitness instructor, and strength and conditioning coach. I was first inspired to become a trainer through my love of sport and the passion and desire to give back. I have a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and enjoy working with people of all fitness levels and abilities. Whether you are new to fitness, hit the gym regularly, or need more of a challenge in your fitness routine, I can help you achieve your goals through hard work and consistency. When I’m not coaching or training clients, I enjoy playing football and running as well as relaxing by doing yoga or watching movies. 

Virtual Fitness with Justin
Classes will include full-body, functional, bodyweight movements in the comfort of your home with no equipment needed. By combining strength, cardiovascular and core exercises these workouts will give you an overall balance and focus to help achieve or improve your fitness goals. Every workout is different and will give you that challenge and motivation to work towards making fitness a lifestyle habit!
Equipment: No equipment required
Difficulty level: Monday – Beginner, Wednesday – Intermediate, Friday – Advanced

Keirstyn 'Kiki' Secord

Keirstyn is a Recovery Trainer for CMHA Calgary and is thrilled to be contributing to the Energize Don't Hide campaign. In addition to her work at CMHA, Keirstyn runs the online mental health community "Dancing With Darkness" and hosts and produces "The Brave Space" podcast. As an advocate and public speaker, Keirstyn works to create brave spaces and #SmashTheStigma wherever she goes. When she's not immersed in the mental health world, she can be found writing, performing, and enjoying the outdoors with her dog, Harley. Keirstyn has combined her background in psychology, mindfulness, and the arts to create these guided meditations in the hopes that they help energize, restore, and ground you with an increased sense of awareness. 

Wellness Break! Meditation
These guided meditations focus on the restorative power of meditation to increase our energy and provide balance in our lives. All you need is a quiet place to sit and be present in the moment. Each meditation will be approximately 20 minutes in length. Together, we will continue on the journey of mental wellness and work to further incorporate mindfulness into our days.
Equipment: No equipment required

Martine Yzerman 

Martine is the owner of Peloton Cycling, a studio built out of the passion for riding a bicycle. She is in her element whenever she can share the love of cycling with those around her through outdoor rides and teaching indoor at the studio. Martine is guaranteed to encourage and motivate you to work to your full potential on and off the bike.

Ride from the comfort in your own home and come along for the virtual experience. Everything you love about our classes at the studio is now available to you at home.

Strava
Become a member of CMHA Calgary's Strava club by searching for Energize Don't Hide and start training with other cyclists, walkers, and runners between June 21 to September 21, 2020! Strava is one of the best training tools for individuals and families of all different levels. Join our club and start connecting with others!

iPhone Health App
Log into your iPhone Health App to track your daily steps, running or cycling distance or manually add your activity by selecting one of the many options to track your daily progress. Don’t forget to log your Mindfulness minutes to enhance your mental health.

Samsung Health App
Check out the android Health app which includes many features designed to help you track your fitness and health measurements. Look into the app store for mindfulness apps like Calm or Headspace for meditation and stress relief techniques.
