Meet Matt

Matthew St. Amand is a lifelong resident of Essex County. He has been a professional writer since 1998, writing for Windsor Life Magazine, The Drive Magazine, and other local publications. At the beginning of the COVID-19 global pandemic, Matthew took up cycling as a way to improve and maintain his mental health. Cycling quickly turned into a healthy obsession.

Matthew chronicled this odyssey in his 2023 book The Kilominator: Cycling Through a Global Pandemic In Search of Sanity & Stability. Since May 2020, he has cycled 67,000 kilometers around Essex County. After all of those kilometers, the best advice he gives to all cycles is: "Always wear your helmet."
