What does it mean to Ride Don't Hide, Virtually?

Ride Don't Hide, Virtually is the nationwide, fundraising bike ride that bring mental health into the open, wherever you are.

Ride Don’t Hide 2020 is charting a new path. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and the physical distancing measures in place to control the spread of the virus, our in-person Ride Don’t Hide event is going virtual.

From now until the end of June, we’re asking you to Ride Don’t Hide, Virtually. Get involved by riding outside, riding inside, or riding in spirit to bring mental health into the open, wherever you are. Ride Don’t Hide, Virtually shows the world that we don’t have to stand side by side to stand together for mental health.

Even in isolation, no one rides alone.

How it works:

Ride Outside
Get outside and feel the wind on your face. Cycling and fresh air are good for anyone’s mental and physical health. Ride anytime, anywhere, as long or as little as you like, just be sure to follow the recommendations from public health authorities, which may change on a day-to-day basis.

Ride Inside
Spin and sweat it out on a stationary bike or trainer. Set your goal and work towards it daily. Join us on Tuesdays at 7pm and Sundays at 9am on Facebook Live for spin classes led by Ride Don't Hide Greater Toronto Committee Chair Gary Carty.

Ride in Spirit
No bike? No problem! You can Ride in Spirit by running, walking, practicing yoga, knitting, or whatever helps you feel mentally well. Set a mental or physical health goal and work towards it every day.

How to join:

STEP 1: Click here to register. Select how you want to participate (Ride Outside, Ride Inside, Ride in Spirit) and choose to start or join a team, or ride on your own. Whatever option you choose, registration is 100% FREE, but you can choose to make a donation if you wish. NOTE: your personal fundraising goal does not have to match your Team's fundraising goal.

During registration you can also choose to fundraise to support critical COVID-19 relief efforts through the Green-Fischer Fund at CMHA Toronto, through the McEvenue Home Works Fund at CMHA Peel Dufferin, or to wherever it's needed most.

STEP 2: Set your own goal to work towards for the month of June (you can start now if you wish!). No bike? No problem. Ride Don't Hide, Virtually is about doing whatever moves you and setting the mental or physical goals you want to achieve.

STEP 3: Choose to raise awareness, raise critical funds, or both! You can help simply by sharing this virtual event and raising awareness about mental health and CMHA. Anyone can sponsor you by donating to your personal page, or to the team page. The funds you raise through Ride Don't Hide, Virtually are shared between CMHA Toronto and CMHA Peel Dufferin.
